Meet Mr. D! Flute, Sax, Clarinet, Uke, Piano Mr. DeBernardo was born and raised in Voorhees, New Jersey. His parents took his music education experience very seriously. His mother was a music educator and was consistently teaching music lessons in their house. His parents helped him develop a love for music and a love for teaching at a young age. Mr. DeBernardo’s primary instrument was saxophone and he began receiving lessons on other woodwind instruments at the age of sixteen. He received his Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree from the University of the Arts where he studied music education and music performance. He has experience performing professionally in orchestras, big bands, wind ensembles, wedding bands, small groups, and musical theater ensembles. He has been teaching private woodwind lessons for students of all ages and has had numerous students place highly in regional ensembles. His lessons focus on developing a strong level of musicianship, instrumental technique, reading music notation, music theory, improvisation, ear training, and developing a strong love and passion for music. Mr. DeBernardo is the music teacher at Newell Elementary School in Allentown, New Jersey. He believes that the art of teaching combined with the art of music creates opportunity. Mr. DeBernardo is destined to guide all of his students to reach their full potential in life through their music education experience.
