Laura Henry graduated summa cum laude from The College of New Jersey where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music. While attending TCNJ, she studied piano with Dr. Tomoko Kanamaru and was active as both a soloist and chamber musician. She also furthered her piano studies with Craig Ketter. As a pianist, she was a member of the TCNJ Wind Ensemble with whom she had the privilege of performing at the New Jersey Music Educators Association (NJMEA) conference as well as at the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) conference in Boston. She was also a member of the TCNJ Women’s Ensemble and College Choir. As a member of Women’s Ensemble, she had the opportunity to participate in the chorus of Verdi’s Requiemat the 2ndAnnual Hand in Hand Concertat the Rose Theater of Lincoln Center. Laura was also chosen to participate in a masterclass with Marvin Blickenstaff, where she played both a solo work and a piano duet.
While at TCNJ, Laura consistently made the Dean’s List and was the recipient of both a four year merit scholarship and the Peter and Catherine Martinac Memorial Music Scholarship. She was also inducted into the honor society of Phi Kappa Phi. Laura is also a classically trained soprano, with over 12 years of study. Influential vocal teachers include Ron Cappon and Scott Rednour. She has also completed the Music Together® Teacher Training Workshop in early childhood music and has further experience apprenticing with the program. Laura is also active as a church musician as both an organist and cantor. She is a member of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA). Laura strives to make lessons an enjoyable experience through which students can learn valuable skills for a lifetime of music making.
