Julianne Markavitch-Caudle is an alumna of the National Music Camp (1983-1985) and Arts Academy (1985-1986) at Interlochen, Michigan. She received her Bachelor of Music from the University of Texas at Austin (1990), and her Master of Music from the University of Michigan (1993). Both degrees were in piano performance, with emphasis on accompanying, pedagogy, and chamber music. She then taught piano lessons and classes at the University of Michigan, Arizona State University, Scottsdale Community College, and Schoolcraft College. From 1998-2005, she was also an adjudicator for the Arizona Study Program, a 12-year graded course of study for the development of musical performance, theory, and technique. In addition to teaching students in college programs, Ms. Caudle was Artistic Director of her own studios in Michigan and Arizona from 1993-2002. Her students performed 22 recitals in 8 years. These recitals had many different themes and were in a variety of locations that included churches, performance halls, shopping malls, retirement homes, and the University of Michigan's Mott Hospital for children.
Julianne also has extensive experience as an accompanist, church musician, and preschool music teacher. She is currently the Music Director at First Presbyterian Church of Hamilton Square, which includes teaching music at FPCHS's Young Wonders preschool. At FPCHS, Mrs. Caudle recently started the Nights of Praise concert series and Youth Outreach music program. Both offer adults and youth the opportunity to express their faith through music. As piano accompanist for YOCJ (Youth Orchestra of Central Jersey) since 2016, Julianne has played for master classes with David Kim, Jennifer Montone, and Stanley Drucker. She also performed at YOCJ's 40th Anniversary concert in 2018, and continues to accompany their master classes, concerts, and summer camps. Her next YOCJ performance will be with their symphonic orchestra this Spring, 2023.
In addition to YOCJ, Ms. Caudle has played piano for several local studios, musicians, and schools. Her performances include: Crescendo Winners Recital at Carnegie Hall, Golden Key Winners Recital at Lincoln Center, A Concert of Women Composers at Lincoln Center, MarketFair Concert Series in Princeton, Downtown Lunchtime Recital Series in New Brunswick, Music In The Park in Lawrenceville, Palombit Cello Studio Recital, Smith/Kochersberger Saxophone Studio Recitals, and has been piano accompanist for the Epps Violin and Viola Studio since 2011. Julianne has worked with several public schools in their choral and musical programs. She was choir accompanist at Neptune High School from 2018-2022. Her musical performances at Hamilton and Hightstown schools include Sister Act Jr., Into The Woods, Newsies, Rent, Cinderella, Annie, and the Wizard Of Oz. She continues to play musicals for Steinert High School and Reynolds Middle School, where she will be performing Seussical and Moana Jr. this 2023 season.
Between 1996-2005, Julianne Markavitch-Caudle recorded six CDs of solo piano music as an independent artist. Two of those CDs won awards at the 2002 and 2004 Just Plain Folks Music Awards in Los Angeles, CA. She also performed as a soloist at the 2004 JPF Awards at the Galaxy Theatre in Santa Ana, CA. Her recordings have been featured on National Public Radio, as well as many classical radio stations throughout the country. (See discography below.)
