EMMANUEL ACOSTA is a lyric tenor, voice teacher and coach based in Princeton, NJ. Mr. Acosta received a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from Westminster Choir College. During his undergraduate career, Mr. Acosta was featured as Alessandro in Mozart’s Il re pastore and Tebaldo in Bellini’s I Capuleti e i Montecchi in the Westminster Opera Theater. Additional productions include Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta and Haydn’s Il mondo della luna. With the Princeton Festival, Mr. Acosta had the opportunity of performing Wagner’s Der Fliegende Holländer, Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, Mozart’s Le Nozze di Firgaro, Britten’s Peter Grimes, Puccini’s Madama Butterfly and Adams’ Nixon in China. Mr. Acosta has had the pleasure of performing with Boheme Opera New Jersey, making his mainstage debut as Normanno in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor. Also with Boheme Opera New Jersey, he has performed Bizet’s Carmen, Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia, and Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana and Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci as a double bill. Earlier this year, Mr. Acosta appeared once again on the stage of Kendall Hall on the campus of The College of New Jersey to perform the Messenger role in Verdi’s Aïda, where he received acclaim for his “appealing lyric tenor voice.”
Mr. Acosta has performed with world-renown orchestras, including the Philadelphia Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, and the Vienna Philharmonic. Mr. Acosta has sung under the baton of acclaimed conductors such as Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Alan Gilbert, Vladimir Jurowski, Jacques Lacombe, Daniele Gatti, and Richard Tang Yuk. Among the venues in which Mr. Acosta has performed are Carnegie Hall, the Kimmel Center, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, and MacCarter Theater. Mr. Acosta trained under distinguished dramatic soprano Dr. Sharon Sweet, and has had the pleasure to coach with Laura Brooks Rice, Dr. Akiko Hosaki, Rachelle Jonck, Dr. Eric Rieger and Debora Scurto-Davis. In April, Mr. Acosta will return to Kendall Hall to perform the role of Matteo Borsa in Boheme Opera’s production of Verdi’s Rigoletto. |
